Pre-Physician Assistant Track

A physician assistant is a graduate of an accredited PA educational program who is authorized by the state to practice medicine with the supervision of a licensed physician. PAs are invaluable members of the healthcare team and work in concert with physicians to ensure the highest quality of care for patients and is one of the fastest growing fields in healthcare. Pre-Physician’s Assistant is the fastest growing pre-health track at the University of Alabama. According to US News and World Report, Physician’s Assistant is #5 on the Best Jobs list and #4 on the Best Health Care Jobs list. Students interested in becoming a physician’s assistant should come and meet with their pre-health advisor as soon as possible to discuss topics such as competitiveness and obtaining patient contact hours.
